The best thing you can do to prevent altitude sickness is taking a day off while you trek so that your body gets adjusted with the altitude. Also, you need to keep yourself hydrated. Make sure you drink enough water and stay away from alcohol as it causes dehydration.

Weather

Weather in the mountain region is unpredictable, in Mardi Himal Trek route weather cannot be predicted. However, the best time for this trek is autumn (mid-September to early December) and spring (February to April).

In December and January, the temperature gets freezing, which makes Mardi Himal Trek very tough. Also, the passes can be blocked because of avalanche and heavy snowfall.

Accommodation and Food

You will not find any luxury hotels in this trek, Mardi Himal Trek is a lodge or tea house trek. In the peak season, you have to share your rooms, mattress, and bathroom with other trekkers. You might not be able to get a hot shower in this region because of the cold weather. However, if you pay a small charge, you can get hot water in some places. As you get to a higher altitude, the accommodation and the services become limited.

While trekking in Nepal, the most common food you will find is ‘Dal-Bhaat,’ it costs less and fills better. Apart from it, you can find curries, momo, tea, coffee, hot lemon, and bakery items.
