Awesome Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur Skyline, Malaysia
June 27th, 2011 by Guy Arnold.

They say whatever happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas. Well, allow me to do the opposite and divulge some of what happened when I visited Kuala Lumpur. I went with another travel-mad friend and, as well as being mistaken for celebrities (of whom we’d never heard, but the locals were adamant!), we visited some [...]

Currency Exchange, Backstreet Gangsta Style

April 15th, 2011 by Andrew Murray.

1. The first and most important aspect, if you wish to carry out a super shady currency exchange is wait… let the offers come to you. This makes the transaction extremely dodgy and thus more interesting…

Dream states, Elephants, Waterfalls and Cable Cars.

April 14th, 2011 by Andrew Murray.

Langkawi is an island off the west coast of Malaysia and it’s beautiful. Before we arrived I expected it to be all about the beaches but a map, conveniently abandoned in our room, clearly stated that I was wrong.

Acting upon this information, we skipped out to the bar, asking the owner of Rainbow Lodge about the vast selection of tourist attractions on offer. You should understand that he seems a nice man, but he rules the roost, means business and gets straight to the point. He simply replied… “They’re all sh*t”.

Langkawi – My New Favourite Place

April 13th, 2011 by Andrew Murray.

Our hostel room is like a nature reserve. At this very moment some kind of orb spider is mopping up the mozzies in the shower room. Our friendly neighbourhood gecko has made his daily appearance from a hole in the rear “window” and a long line of ants is marching proudly beneath the front door. [...]

Georgetown it’s beautiful huh?

April 12th, 2011 by Andrew Murray.

Fresh off the bus from Kuala Lumpur we disembarked at a small bus station in Penang. If you wind up here, the taxi’s will try to charge you 25RM for the trip to Georgetown. Of course we knew this, but there were no other evident transport links and our driver offered to take us for [...]

Kuala Lumpur, Dead Quick, Like the Traffic…

April 11th, 2011 by Andrew Murray.

Cars have priority in this city and they’re everywhere, slowly winding their way amongst droves of people, in zones that would, ideally, be pedestrianized. Luckily, when we weren’t dashing through traffic, we were eating, and I’ll concede on this… the food in KL is fantastic.

Air Asia X – London to Kuala Lumpur

Air Asia X Review
April 5th, 2011 by Andrew Murray.

Arriving at Kuala Lumpur airport, I couldn’t quite believe my luck. It was brilliant, I’d survived another flight. I felt heroic and proud to have conquered my fear once again. Now, recovered from the effects of my medication, I can tell you that the flight with Air Asia X had been pretty uneventful. We boarded [...]

A Proposed Bimble from KLIA to CNX

Kuala Lumpur
January 13th, 2011 by Andrew Murray.

I’m not a big fan of well established travel itineraries. They goad me into rushing around, and set me on a course of inevitable disappointment. However, Laura and I sat down together and spoke about how we would tackle our upcoming journey. It turns out, that behind closed doors, a lot of plans have been made and many a list has been drawn up. (She does love her lists!)
